Ceramic cat water fountain, quiet and easy to clean
TREVI is a cat water fountain made of glazed ceramic. The water runs down a ribbed cylinder into a shallow bowl, the pump stays below 35 dB, and the cable exits at the bottom of the fountain instead of running through the water. TREVI was designed by Hanna Krüger.

Why a cat water fountain?
Many cats don't drink much, especially if they eat a lot of dry food. Their ancestors lived in dry regions and got a large part of the water they needed from their prey. Some cats prefer to drink moving water, from the faucet for example, while others don't care.
A fountain is an invitation. The trickling sound makes cats curious, and the filter catches hair and bits of food that would otherwise stay in the bowl. Whether your cat drinks more because of it depends on your cat. If you're worried about whether your cat drinks enough, ask your vet.
Ceramic or plastic: which is better for a cat water fountain?
Most cat water fountains are made of plastic. Over time, plastic gets fine scratches, and that's where the slimy film you know from the water bowl takes hold. Glazed ceramic is harder and stays smooth.
How quiet is the TREVI cat water fountain?
The pump stays below 35 dB, about as quiet as a whisper. Mostly you hear the water trickling. Skittish cats sometimes need a few days before they dare to come close. If so, put a few treats next to the fountain and praise your cat when they go over to it.

How to clean your cat water fountain
Change the water at least every three days. Every one to two weeks, give the fountain a thorough clean: unplug it, wash the ceramic by hand with mild dish soap, and rinse the pump and filter. It's best not to put the ribbed cylinder in the middle in the dishwasher, as it can get damaged there.
Replace the filter every two months. If your water is hard, soak the pump parts in vinegar or descaler for about 30 minutes. If the LED lights up red, there's not enough water in the fountain. You can buy replacement filters and a replacement pump separately.

Frequently asked questions about cat water fountains
Do cats need a water fountain?
No, for many cats a clean bowl of fresh water is enough. A fountain is worth it if your cat prefers drinking moving water, from the faucet for example, or if you'd like to offer an extra water spot. Whether it makes your cat drink more varies from cat to cat.
Is a ceramic cat water fountain better than a plastic one?
Glazed ceramic is harder than plastic and hardly scratches. Film has a harder time sticking to the smooth surface and is easier to wipe off. A ceramic fountain is also heavier and more stable.
How often do I need to change the filter?
Every two months. TREVI comes with 12 filters, which last about two years. After that, you can get replacement filters in mesh or cotton.
How often do I need to clean the cat water fountain?
Change the water at least every three days and give the fountain a thorough clean every one to two weeks. With several cats or hard water, a little more often is better.
How much electricity does the cat water fountain use?
The pump uses 0.25 watts. If TREVI runs all year round, that's about 2.2 kWh a year, so under €1 a year at €0.40 per kWh.
Can the cat water fountain go in the dishwasher?
The ceramic bowl is dishwasher safe, but we still recommend washing it by hand. The ribbed cylinder in the middle can get damaged in the dishwasher. The pump should never go in the dishwasher.
What does the red LED mean?
The red LED shows that there's not enough water in the fountain. Top it up right away so the pump doesn't run dry. If it stays on after that, the pump usually needs to be cleaned of limescale or hair.
How much water does TREVI hold?
TREVI holds about 2.8 liters (95 oz) and has a diameter of 26.5 cm (10.4 in). The cable is 1.4 m (4.6 ft) long.
What do I do if the pump breaks?
You can get the replacement pump separately, with a USB or USB-C connector. You can also buy filters and ceramic parts separately.
